Coconut Wonders

Do you have a dog with itchy skin? Is your dog a fussy eater? Is your dogs fur dull and in need of moisture? Well there is one simple ingredient that will fix all those issues.

Yes, you guessed it.. Coconut Oil

Here’s how I use it.

Itchy skin

JJ is prone to itchy skin due to allergies or yeast infections. Singapore is such a humid place so it’s very common for our pooches to get yeast infections because the yeast breeds in hot places.

Coconut to the rescue!

To reduce discomfort, put some coconut oil on a cotton bud rub it onto the itchy areas.

For bad yeast infections try using coconut oil and apple cider vinegar at a 1:1 ratio. Rub the solution onto the areas and let dry.

Do not add water, as we want to prevent any moisture because it encourages the yeast to grow.

The good thing about using coconut oil is that since it’s 100% natural, even if your dog licks it there is no harm whatsoever. They will be happy that they don’t need a uncomfortable elizabethan collar!

Needless to say, if you are not sure why your dog is itching or it is severe, please always go to a vet to get the most accurate diagnosis of your dog’s issue and not follow my silly little blog because every dog is different!

Fussy Eater

Eating the same food every day can get very dull and repulsive.

Add a bit of coconut oil into their food and watch them gobble it up away!

Not only does it taste good, it’s known to be a superfood which means it has multiple benefits like aiding digestion, it’s a powerful antibacterial and aids arthritis and ligament problems.

Dull Fur

If you have ever tried using coconut oil for your own hair treatment, you’ll know how you feel like a million bucks after.

Luckily, the same applies for our dogs.

Add 1-2 tablespoons of coconut oil into their shampoo or conditioner when you bathe them. I recommend to leave it on for 10-15 minutes before washing it off to get the full effect.

Make sure to wash it off thoroughly because coconut oil is very sticky so you maybe need to do another shampoo to make sure it all comes off.

Those were just some of the benefits of coconut oil for your dogs and if none of them work for you, worse case you can use it as a skin moisturiser for yourself~!
